Finding a tender is the first step. A contractor also needs to know whether it is relevant, what the requirements are, and how to get the documents.
I led product delivery for Click Tenders Africa, working across backend engineering and cloud infrastructure.
Discovery and access
The product connects public tender discovery with paid access. Categories and filters help people narrow the catalogue; subscription rules determine which tender details and documents they can open.
Those rules have to agree across the interface and the API. The frontend separates public browsing from account screens and keeps tender, subscription, and payment state in distinct queries. The backend checks document access against the subscriber’s plan.
Where the systems meet
Checkout, payment confirmation, and access are separate steps. A successful return to the site still needs a confirmed subscription behind it. The API is the source of truth for that state, including renewals and cancellations.
That is where product decisions and system design meet: what someone sees, what they have paid for, and what they can use need to tell the same story.
